Opening a book for your house
The four things the sign-up form asks for, and what you have the moment it is done.
A house's records live in its book. Opening one takes a minute at the sign-up page, and it asks for four things.
- Auction house. The name the house trades under. It appears at the top of the printed catalogue and on the desk's menu, so type it the way you want it printed.
- Selling in. Pounds, US dollars or euros. This is the currency the estimates are kept in, to the penny. Each new sale starts in this currency, and a sale's currency can be changed afterwards.
- Email. Use the address you will pay the plan with. Lotdesk matches a payment to a book by that address, so a different one means the book and the payment do not find each other.
- Password. At least 10 characters. Choose one only you know; see Passwords and keeping the login safe.
When you submit, you are signed in and taken to the sales on the book, which is empty. You can start a sale, add sections, enter consignors and write lots at once: the first 25 lots are free, with no card. See The plan for what comes after, and the sample sale if you would like to look round first.
The sign-up makes the house's own login. Each cataloguer then gets a login of their own from the Team page; see Adding and removing a cataloguer.
