I can't sign in

The usual reasons the sign-in page says "That email address and password do not match a book", in the order to check them.

The sign-in page gives one answer for every kind of mismatch: "That email address and password do not match a book." That is deliberate, so it does not tell a stranger which half was right. Work through these.

  1. The email address. It must be the one the book was opened with, or the one a cataloguer was invited on. A person often has two or three addresses. Try each. Capital letters in the address do not matter; the password is case-sensitive.
  2. The password. Check caps lock, and look for a space typed after it. If a password manager filled it in, it may have filled in an old one.
  3. Is there a book at all? If you never finished the sign-up form, there is none. Open one; the form tells you if the address is already in use.
  4. A different device. Signing in works the same everywhere, so if it works on a computer and not on a phone, the phone has the wrong password saved or an autocomplete problem. Type it by hand.
  5. Signed out on the phone. A phone asks you to sign in again after about 30 days. Anything written but not yet sent stays on the phone and goes once you are back in.

If none of that works, choose Forgot your password? under the sign-in form and follow Choosing a new password. If the page says email is not switched on, it offers to write to support from the address you sign in with.
