Why a lot was turned down
The reasons a lot is refused when it is saved or sent, in the words Lotdesk uses, and the fix for each.
When a lot breaks one of the book's rules it is not saved and the page, or the outbox, says why. On the phone it stays in the outbox with the sentence on it. The common ones:
- "A lot needs a title." The What it is field is empty. Type the line the catalogue prints.
- "The low estimate is above the high estimate." Swap the two figures.
- "Not one of the condition grades this app writes." Choose a grade from the list, or leave it blank.
- "A lot holds 12 photographs at the most." Take one off before adding another.
- "The start bid is above the low estimate." A start bid is at most the low estimate; lower it or raise the estimate.
- "Not one of this house's categories." Add the category to the house's list first. See The house's categories.
- "That photograph is 5.2 MB — the most one photograph can be is 3 MB." Use a smaller picture.
- "Not a section of this sale." Add the section to the sale first, then choose it.
- "Not on this house's consignor list." Take the consignor in at consignment intake first.
- "This sale already holds 3,000 lots." A sale is one day's work; start a second sale.
- "This auction house is not on the plan yet." The house has used its 25 free lots, or the plan has ended, so the book can be read but not written to. See The plan. Lots you have written on the phone wait safely and go the moment the house is on it.
For anything about a lot's number, see A lot number was refused. If the sentence on your screen is not here, send it to us word for word.
