Taking a sale off the book

What removing a sale does, why it cannot be undone, and what to take first.

Open the sale, expand Correct the sale's name, day, venue or state and use Take this sale off the book. It removes the sale, its sections, all its lots and their photographs. There is no bin to restore it from, and the lot numbers go with it.

Before you do it:

  1. Take the CSV. From the sale's screen choose Export the CSV and keep the file; a house still on its free lots takes the printed catalogue instead. See Exporting the CSV.
  2. Print or save the catalogue as a PDF if the house wants the sheet as it stood. See Printing the catalogue.
  3. Check that nothing is waiting in the outbox. A lot still on a phone for a sale that has gone is turned down with "that sale is not on this house".

Consignors are not removed with a sale. They belong to the house and may have lots in other sales.

If you only want to stop working on a sale, do not remove it: set it to Catalogued in the same panel instead. That is a note on the book, changes nothing else, and can be undone.

If a sale was removed by mistake, write to support at once with the sale's name and day. There is no promise that it can be recovered, which is the reason to take the CSV first. Getting your data out describes the rest of what the house can take with it.
